Skin Type Questionnaire Intro
For
about a hundred years, skin care specialists have relied
on the traditional skin type model that divides skin
into four basic categories: normal, combination, dry
or oily. However, there are other factors to consider
when looking for a skin care product. There are four
important factors to consider when determining skin
type. The following questionnaire will determine:
1. Is the skin oily or dry?
2. Is the patient prone to sensitive skin or resistant
to sensitivity?
3. Are there dark patches on the skin or uneven skin
tones?
4. Are there wrinkles, or is the skin prone to wrinkling?
Patients can have more than one factor when considering
skin type. Baumann in her book "The Skin Type Solution"
has put together a list of 16 different combinations
of these factors to develop her skin type profile. I
highly recommend the purchase of this book which is
now available in paperback for only $12 dollars.
In her book, Baumann helps readers to determine their
true skin type. She then dedicates an entire chapter
for each of the 16 skin types. Each chapter reviews
the problems associated with that particular skin type
as well as a list of some of the best products to care
for that particular type of skin. Cost is not necessarily
an indicator of the best product. Baumann says sometimes
the cheaper products provide the best results or at
least similar results to the more expensive brands.
Baumann says some skin conditions need to be seen by
a dermatologist. Her book helps readers determine if
medical advice should be sought. There is also a website
where people can offer feedback or personal responses
to the recommended facial skin care products. The site
can be accessed at http://www.DrBaumann.com.
