No-downtime Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion
and Dermaplaning
Chemical skin peels act by removing part of the outer
layer of the skin. As does Microdermabrasion, dermaplaning,
and retin A. The top layer of the skin is composed of
14 or more dead cell which pie-plate forming the stratum
corneum. When these are removed, the body immediately
goes into production of new full health collagen cells
replace the removed ones. Over the years many agents
have been used to effect this action, most employing
naturally occurring acids found in fruit and other foods.
Cleopatra is said to have used the lactic acid content
from sour milk to erase the wrinkles and fine lines
caused by Julius Caesar.

In a peel, oil, dirt, dead and dry skin cells, and
bacteria are gently removed in a process that leaves
the skin refreshed, lustrous, and clear. Chemical peels
can improve a wide variety of skin conditions including
fine lines, uneven pigmentation, sun-damaged skin, age
spots, and freckling.
Chemical peels effect measurable and significant changes
in skin texture and appearance. Most importantly, there
is no downtime and the patient is able to resume normal
activities immediately.
At Spa Cielo we use PCA & Sesderma products exclusively
for our peels. This procedure is often combined with
dermaplaning, a process whereby the fine facial, or
vellus hairs are removed prior to the application of
the appropriate peeling agent. The entire process is
followed by the application of a healing mask moisturizer
and sunscreen.
For patients with acne-prone skin, we perform microdermabrasion
with the Sesderma procedure using salicylic acid. This
has the effect of aiding in the sloughing off of dead
cells and debris on the skin surface while simultaneously
decreasing the acne process and reducing the environmental
damage to the skin. The treatment may be repeated every
four to six weeks for optimum effect.
We are available to discuss these extremely versatile
modalities with you at any time. You may reach our office
